Blue-Green Algae Task Force to meet

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will a meeting of the Blue-Green Algae Task Force, at  Florida Atlantic University, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, 5600 N. U.S. Highway 1, Fort Pierce on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 9:30 a.m.

 Interested members of the public may register for the Virtual Meeting on GoTo Webinar or participate in-person.

The Blue-Green Algae Task Force is charged with identifying solutions to reduce the adverse impacts of blue-green algae. During this meeting, the task force will discuss data collection and modeling needs to enable predictive modeling work that could identify locations of likely blue-green algal blooms.

Predictive modeling is one tool being explored to better inform the public and more proactively initiate innovative strategies for technological mitigation.

Public comment will be accepted during the meeting and can also be submitted via email to BlueGreenAlgaeTaskForce@FloridaDEP.gov.

This meeting will be broadcast by the Florida Channel.
