CLEWISTON — With less to do to have fun and stay safe during the pandemic, more and more people are looking for ways to have fun outdoors. Locals have begun to flock to the Hendry County Motorsports Park (HCMP) to watch high-octane events like the Inaugural Sprint Car State Championship. Many regulars said they were surprised to see such a big turn out.

In front of all the new faces, a fan favorite of the track managed to pull an upset and win.

“I want to personally congratulate this young man for his victory last night at hendry county motorsports park in the south Florida state championship top gun sprint car race,” Hendry County Motorsports Park owner, Ken Kinney said. “Tyler Clem you did a great job and I’m proud to call you the champion of this years inaugural race.”

“What an incredible night!” said Audra Meely, a retired racer, who now lives in LaBelle. “I love this track. So much excitement. It’s a great place to have fun with my family, while we reminisce about the old days. The littles love it, too.”

An incredible amount of talent can be found at the the HCMP. From up and coming rookies with determination to skilled old timers who’ve seen it all, drivers will compete at the dirt track in the Jim Morgan Memorial Southern-most Showdown, on December 4-5, 2020.

Described by Kinney as an “exciting wheel man” driver Tim Gay will be racing this coming weekend, “Doing battle on the everglades clay in the showdown. Tim Gay is always one to watch.”

The track is looking for sponsors for the upcoming race.

“We have 7 laps left as 85 laps are sponsored for the Jim Morgan memorial southern most showdown being held at the hendry county motorsports park this weekend December 4th-5th. If you would like to sponsor a lap for $20 please contact us. Thank you very much for your support as all the money goes right back to the drivers,” Kinney explained.
