CLEWISTON -- The Clewiston Museum is proud to announce that its Inaugural Teacher Appreciation & Welcome Back Celebration was a huge success! The luncheon was held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and was attended by approximately 130 teachers.

“The community’s businesses and restaurants truly came together in appreciation of Clewiston’s teachers,” said Leigh Woodham, Clewiston Museum Director.

“Almost all of the food was donated and there were a number of financial sponsors and door prize donors.”

The lunch included food, beverages and supplies donated by Beef O’ Brady’s, Common Grounds Coffee Shop, Julio’s Café Tropical, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Nisbet Enterprises’ McDonald’s, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Sonny’s BBQ, and Staghorn Kitchen.

Financial sponsors were Everglades Federal Credit Union, First Bank, Odyssey FoodTrans LLC, Prestige Cleaning Services, Rawls Real Estate, Real Quick LLC, Roland & Mary Ann Martins Marina & Resort, Sugar Realty, Superior Contracting and U.S. Sugar.

Over 40 door prizes that had all been donated by the museum and local businesses were given out after lunch. The door prizes were donated by Badcock Furniture & More, The Beauty Loft Med Spa, Clewiston Florist & Gifts, Elizabeth’s Beauty Day Spa, Glades Gas & Air Conditioning, Nisbet Enterprises’ McDonald’s, MCM Paint & Flooring, Royal’s Furniture, Seasons 3:1 LLC and Young Living Essential Oils. In addition, five cash prizes were given out, thanks to the event’s generous sponsors!

As each teacher left, they were given a bag full of all kinds of goodies, also donated by local businesses.

“We are so pleased to have been able to host this event,” said Brenda Lopez, chair of the museum’s board.

“Education is part of the museum’s mission and supporting our teachers is an excellent way of working to fulfill that mission.”

This event would not be possible without the generous support of Clewiston’s business community. Their support demonstrates how strongly they feel about showing appreciation for what the Clewiston teachers do for our local students. In addition, the museum would like to thank Cross Training Ministries for their help in setting up the tables and chairs.
