Expo and Touch a Truck coming soon

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — The 2023 Health and Safety Expo and Touch a Truck are coming soon!

This year, the expo will be held on Jan. 28 at the Ag-Civic Center beginning at 9 am and continuing until 2 p.m.

"We will have safety displays, first responder vehicles, activities, entertainment, food, giveaways along with the famous Touch a Truck displays. We will also bring back Knockerball which was a huge success last year," said Chuck Akers.

Akers explained Knockerball is where a child climbs inside a giant ball and rolls around and into other balls. "It will be a lot of fun," he said.

All the health and safety organizations from Okeechobee and surrounding areas will be there and will be offering helpful information and maybe even some goodies.

Okeechobee County Fire Rescue will be serving their usual gourmet hotdogs free of charge, but if you are in the mood for something different, there will also be food trucks on site where you can purchase a meal.

Let’s hope for a warm day because Kona Ice will be there with snow cones and Milking R Ice Cream will be there as well.

The sheriff’s office will do a demonstration, and so will Okeechobee County Fire Rescue. There will be lots of things for the kids to do and lots of information for the adults. Everything at the event is free except for the food trucks.

Ten vendor spots are still available, and if you are interested in taking part, you can contact Chuck Akers at 772-260-9026, or by email at okeechobeecountyvolunteerfd@gmail.com or call firefighter Donny Arnold at 863-634-6464.
