Fine Arts Extravaganza showcases talent at OHS

Posted

OKEECHOBEE- Fine Arts students at Okeechobee High School were given the spotlight at the Fine Arts Extravaganza on March 28.

The event held at OHS showcased performances from the Drama Club, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Show Choir, and the Winter Guard. Art and ceramics created by students were displayed in building 6 at OHS as well.

The Drama Club  gave those at the extravaganza a sneak peek at their upcoming performance of "Mamma Mia." The troupe rehearsed two songs from the musical, Super Trouper and Money, Money, Money. The show is set to officially open April 8 at 7 p.m. with showings on April 9, April 15, and April 16.

Following the sneak peek at "Mamma Mia" the Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble each performed three songs in the OHS courtyard. For the first time this year the Jazz Band earned straight superiors at their district Music Performance Assessment and were given the opportunity to perform at the state level.

Show Choir held a rehearsal in the OHS cafeteria. The club performed two songs for the crowd in attendance, "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman, and "Dear Theodosia" from the Hamilton musical. The OHS Winter Guard closed out the extravaganza with a dance based on the story of Pandora’s Box.
