FWC: Florida panther mortality update

Posted

The FWC has updated the “Panther Pulse” page with mortality information through Feb. 15, 2021 at 1:15 p.m. This information can be viewed at: https://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/wildlife/panther/pulse/

The remains of a seven-year-old female Florida panther (UCFP398) were collected on Feb. 13, 2021 on SR82, 0.6 miles southeast of Daniels Parkway in Lee County (UTM 429782, 2939886). The suspected cause of death was an impact with a vehicle.

Biologists gain valuable information by examining panther remains. Report injured or dead panthers to the FWC Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).

Florida residents can support panther conservation efforts by purchasing a “Protect the Panther” license plate. Fees from license plate sales are the primary funding source for the FWC’s research and management of Florida panthers. You can purchase a plate at https://myfloridaspecialtyplate.com/protect-the-panther.html
