LABELLE - Working towards their Outdoor Art Explorer badges, LaBelle’s Girl Scout Troop 1017 worked with local artist, Carlos Inocente Gonzalez, on a beautiful mural at Barron Park, Sunday, January 31.

Gonzalez was born in Venezuela, where he studied at the Escuela de Artes Visuales in Maracay, Venezuela. He worked as a graphic designer in Venezuela before moving to Florida.

A multidisciplinary artist who focuses on community and environmental issues, he has worked on the mural on the outside wall of the Caloosa Belle office building, and has painted murals in Pompano Beach and Fort Pierce. His artwork has won many awards, some from the local Barron Park House Gallery’s annual “Perceptions” and “Inspirations” art shows. His work has appeared in selected exhibitions, in public, private and corporate collections, across the nation. You can find his beautiful, inspiring creations in places like Pompano Beach, Fort Pierce, Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, as well as Petoskey, Michigan and Rochester, N.Y.

The Girl Scouts worked under the instruction of Gonzalez, who is an experienced mural painter, in order to earn their Junior Outdoor Art Explorer Badges.

“Let nature be your inspiration as you explore, create, and design different kinds of art,” the Girl Scout Handbook states. “When you’ve earned this badge, you will know how to find the art in nature and create your own outdoor artwork.”

The new mural spans one of the outdoor walls of Barron Park’s public restroom, and is a colorful, modern piece, true to Gonzalez’s unique style, that includes an oak tree and an egret.
