Glades County Commission to discuss lake schedule

Posted

MOORE HAVEN  -- A discussion of the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) is on the agenda for the  Monday, May 24 meeting of the Glades County Board of Commissioners.

LOSOM will replace the Lake Okeechobee Regulation Schedule (LORS) when the repairs to the Herbert Hoover Dike are complete in 2022. LORS tries to keep the lake in the ecological beneficial range of 12.5 feet to 15.5 feet above sea level.

LOSOM models under consideration might allow the lake level to drop lower or rise higher than the current schedule.

The meeting will be held in the Second Floor BOCC Room, 500 Ave. J. SW in Moore Haven at 6 p.m.

A short term lease request for the training center is also on the agenda.
