NAPLES, Fla. – Home Base Florida, a local non-profit founded by the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital dedicated to supporting Veterans and Military Families impacted by the invisible wounds of war, has welcome three new team members to address the growing demand for its world-class clinical care, wellness-based programs and peer support for Veterans, Service Members, and their Families.

Nicole Culver is the Wellness Coordinator for the Warrior Health and Fitness program. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Exercise Physiologist. During her time in the Exercise Science program, Nicole completed an internship at Home Base Florida, where she discovered her passion for working with Veterans.

Larry Whitmore, MSW is the Veterans Outreach Coordinator. In this role, he is the point of contact for Veterans and their families seeking care and/or education regarding Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other combat-related stress.

Larry is a United States Airforce Lt Col (Ret.). His military career spanned 26 years from 1990-2016 with service in the Army, Army National Guard, Air Force and Air National Guard. Since retiring from the service in 2016, Larry has strived to find ways to give back to both veterans and his community. This includes leading trauma sensitive mindfulness meditation groups for veterans, leading the Jail Yoga Program for Missoula County, Montana, and leading mindfulness practices for Missoula County’s Treatment Court programs.

Larry received a Master of Arts in Military Science and Operational Art from the Air Force’s Air University in 2012 and a Master of Social Work from the University of Montana in 2022.

Lindsey Stiefvater is the Communications and Community Outreach Specialist.

Lindsey earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Southern New Hampshire University, specializing in Public Relations and with double minors in Journalism and Child & Family Development.

In addition to her academic pursuits and volunteer work during college, Lindsey worked as an Applied Behavioral Specialist for children with Autism while coaching MMA / Boxing. After graduation, Lindsey started her career as the Advancement Associate for Paws for Purple Hearts, a national organization that trains service dogs for Veterans. After working with Paws for Purple Hearts, Lindsey transitioned into a new role as a wedding planner, a career that she has been thriving in for the past 5 years.

Her passion for helping veterans stems from her family’s background in law enforcement and the military. Lindsey is dedicated to supporting those who have served our country, and is excited to continue serving them through Home Base and bringing her event planning expertise to the variety of fundraising events Home Base hosts and participates in throughout the year.
