Hope Healthcare grant to fund services for seniors

Posted

FORT MYERS — Hope Healthcare was recently awarded a $25,000 grant to help at-risk seniors living in Hendry and Glades counties. The grant, from the Oregon-based Ronald W. Naito MD Foundation, will support Hope Connections, a comprehensive program providing meals, transportation, help with homemaking, chores and personal care, and other vital services to seniors in Clewiston, LaBelle and Moore Haven.

“We are honored to partner with the RWN Foundation in caring for our seniors,” said Hope Healthcare President and CEO Samira K. Beckwith. “We know that the meals we provide are often the only source of nutrition, and our visits may be the only social interaction our seniors receive all day. We are extremely grateful for the foundation’s recognition of our work within the community.”

Hope Connections also provides support for caregivers and counseling services. A personal emergency response system, medical equipment, supplies and home modifications also allow seniors to stay safely at home.

The RWN Foundation continues the legacy of the late Ron Naito, an Oregon internist dedicated to healing, protecting, strengthening and transforming communities and the planet. The organization funds nonprofit organizations committed to reducing health disparities, mitigating climate change and building socially equitable and environmentally sustainable communities.

Enrollment in Hope Connections is administered through the Area Agency on Aging. For information about Hope Connections, call the Elder Helpline at 866-413-5337.

With more than 40 years of experience as a local, not-for-profit healthcare organization, Hope Healthcare is dedicated to providing care and comfort for people in life’s closing chapter. A compassionate team of staff and volunteers offers practical, spiritual and emotional support for the entire family.
