ORLANDO – For fans of the Okeechobee Music Festival, Imsomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Orlando offered a different flavor of celebration.
Every year, EDC introduces many electronic music performances and intense light shows. The 3-day festival does not offer camping options, but it has a close proximity to downtown Orlando, and several shuttle services to popular Orlando hotels.
The 2022 event, held Nov. 10-12 at Orlando's Tinker Field, drew crowds of unprecedented size from all over the area, as well as out-of-state visitors. Downtown businesses, Orlando hotels and many privately rented units were filled with guests of the festival eagerly awaiting the weekend long party.
The vibe of the event was inherently different from the Okeechobee Music Festival. OMF draws overnight guests and campers, which tends to lead to later nights and a more relaxed environment. OMF is also in a very rural area, adding to the tranquil ambience of the festival.
EDC closes its gates at the end of each night, meaning guests leave and came back each day. This fosters a much higher pace throughout the weekend than Insomniac’s OMF. Most of the attendees spend their time dancing and enjoying the electric sky. After midnight, guests have the option to continue the party elsewhere at several bars and clubs in the nearby downtown business district.
Although the atmosphere at Electric Daisy Carnival is fast and bright, fans of any festivals can easily appreciate the variety of live artists and world-class lighting effects.
