OKEECHOBEE - The following felony cases have either been tried in a court of law or have been settled without trial and are considered closed.

• Jennifer Shaw, 36 was placed on community control for one year followed by two years of drug offender probation after entering a no contest plea to the charge of giving a false statement to obtain public aid. Shaw was arrested in October of 2019.
• Darrius Houze, 21, was sentenced to one year community control followed by one year probation after entering a no contest plea to charges of resisting arrest with violence and escape. Houze was arrested in January of 2020.
• Alanda Hunsinger, 31, was sentenced to 60 days in county jail after violating probation. Hunsinger was originally arrested in November of 2017 on a charge of unarmed burglary. After pleading no contest, she was sentenced to four months in county jail followed by one year community control followed by three years probation. In October of 2020, she was arrested and charged with violation of probation for failure to report.

• Jack Jernigan, 40, was sentenced to one year and one month in state prison after entering a plea of no contest to charges of battery on a person 65 years or older and simple assault. Jernigan was arrested in May of 2020 after being accused of shoplifting at Walmart and then shoving an associate into a cabinet.
• Lawrence Ritchie, 42, was sentenced to two months and two days in county jail followed by two years probation after entering a plea of no contest to charges of possession of methamphetamine and obstruction without violence. Ritchie was arrested in January of 2020 while riding a bicycle with his young child in a pull behind trailer. He had a warrant out for his arrest on previous charges. The child was turned over to its mother.
• Paul Rosier was sentenced to three years probation after entering a no contest plea to charges of failing to return hired or leased property. Rosier was arrested in October of 2019 after failing to make payments on a 43” LED television and a 10K BTU A/C.
• Valentina Parrish, 28, was sentenced to 18 months probation after entering a plea of no contest to a charge of habitual driving without a license. She was arrested in September of 2020.
• Michael Raulerson, 52, was sentenced to one year probation after entering a plea of no contest to the charge of DUI/third or more violation within 10 years. Raulerson was arrested in September of 2019.
• Athena Valladares, 33, was sentenced to one year probation after entering a plea of no contest to charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and trespass. A charge of possession of Alprazolam was dropped. Valladares was arrested in October of 2019 after trespassing on the property of Raulerson Hospital.
• Candice Nesby, 33, was sentenced to two months in county jail and two years probation after entering a plea of no contest to charges of possession of Oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespass. A charge of possession of new legend drugs without a prescription was dropped. Nesby was arrested in June of 2019 after a member of the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force observed her rolling a powder inside a $20 bill.
