FORT PIERCE — Indian River State College (IRSC) is pleased to announce that it has received $1,159,197 through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Rapid Credentialing grant by the Florida Department of Education to provide unemployed, underemployed or furloughed workers with training in in-demand areas of the regional workforce. The grant establishes the Indian River State College Rapid Credentialing program, which bolsters the college’s ability to connect residents with short-term, in-demand, workforce/career and technical education credentialing and certificate programs. Eligible students will have program fees and books paid for by the grant; earn their credentials fast — typically within months; and have access to IRSC Career and Transfer Services for assistance with their job search.

“The Rapid Credentialing program will have significant impact on quality of life for our residents, and I want to thank Gov. DeSantis and his administration for infusing funding into IRSC quick training opportunities,” declared Dr. Timothy Moore, president of Indian River State College. “Individuals can receive up-skilling for their current job or re-skilling for employment in high-demand jobs, ultimately extending economic opportunity for area families and building a dynamic workforce pipeline for regional businesses.”

The Rapid Credentialing program offers certificate and career training opportunities in areas that include electric power plant technology; accounting, entrepreneurship and business; health science; automotive; HVAC; landscape and horticulture; firefighting; corrections; and private security officer. Several programs include courses that are credit-bearing and may apply toward corresponding Associate in Science degrees.
