OKEECHOBEE -- Once again, Okeechobee Christian Academy is celebrating Kindness Week. Principal Melissa King explained the school does this twice a year. Rather than focusing on anti-bullying, they focus on being kind to others. Each day of the week had a different theme:

Kindness week is celebrated twice a year at OCA.

Monday - We have a heart for kindness. Students and staff wore pink or red and hearts.  The One Blood bus came to the school for any staff or older students who wanted to donate blood.

Tuesday - We are proud to be a KIND American. Everyone wore red, white and blue and spent time praying for our country. Students brought in loose change to be donated to the Vets Helping Vets account at W&W Lumber.

Wednesday - Our school is stuck on kindness. The dress code of the day was to wear school colors, blue and gold. Each class did an act of kindness to benefit the school.

Thursday - Make a career out of kindness.   The students were asked to dress up as the person they want to be when they grow up. They will be writing notes of appreciation to their teachers as well.

Kindness week is a lot of fun for the students at OCA.

Friday - Be a part of team kindness. Friday is field day, and the students are to wear their team colors. The kids will be separated into four different teams and will wear the color of their team. The idea for the field day is to focus more on kindness toward each other and learning to be a good sport out on the field. They kids move from station to station doing activities like Jump Rope for Heart or basketball or Cross Fit. When the whistle blows, they move to the next station. They were asked to bring in loose change to benefit Special Olympics on this day.

Each year, when they hold Kindness Week, the school chooses a mission to donate to. They have blessed Martha's House, the Pregnancy Center, missionaries to Uganda and many others.

OCA, Kindness Week
