OKEECHOBEE — Judge William Wallace was admitted to Raulerson Hospital Jan. 9 after a bout with COVID-19 took a turn for the worse. On Monday morning, the judge took to Facebook to reassure his friends and consituents.
"Good morning everyone,
I am hearing things about my current medical condition, some correct and some not so. As you as know I am a very private person in my personal life but feel as an elected person I owe the community accurate information.
"Thirteen days ago I tested positive for covid after not feeling well for a couple days. Sore throat, fever, chills, no energy , every part of my body hurting etc. I tried working remotely (zoom) and just was not happening. Energy just not there. The entire time my temp stayed 100-103, but my O2 stayed 92-95.
"I have had three doctor appts both in person and by telemed. As well as a trip to the ER. I continued to maintain until my O2 crashed yesterday at 79. It was at this point hospitalization was needed. I have been admitted with covid pneumonia!! The staff here has been incredible, and I want to thank them for most of us know nothing of what they are having to do.
"As for my courtroom, I can not tell you from our Chief Judge down, the numbers of judges, magistrates, court adminstration, clerks, court security, private attorneys, the offers of help covering, rescheduling etc. I am forever grateful. My family and JA Karen. Thank you.
"I look forward to a speedy recovery. Love you all !"
