CANAL POINT — On March 6, Kathryn E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary’s SECME Club had another great showing at the School District of Palm Beach County’s annual SECME Olympiad. SECME is an extracurricular club that allows its members to have an opportunity to work on projects that focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The SECME Olympiad is a district wide competition between all of Palm Beach County Schools’ SECME clubs.
Kathryn E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary’s mousetrap powered car won first place at the SECME Olympiad’s prestigious mousetrap car competition. The mousetrap car was expertly driven by Zachary Valdez. The lead builder of the car was Paris Jenkins. Violetta Prieto, Amainrany Cervantes, Zachary Valdez, and Joseph Gonzalez also helped design and build the award winning mousetrap car. This is the fourth time Kathryn E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary has won first place in the SECME Olympiad’s mousetrap car competition.
