Kids go to Kiwanis for Christmas shopping

Posted

LABELLE - The LaBelle Kiwanis Club along with the Kiwanis Foundation wanted to supply a bit of normalcy to the 2020 holiday season for local children and their families, so they organized a Kids Shopping Day. The fun event was held last Saturday, Dec. 12, and resulted in nearly 60 gifts being wrapped, ready for their recipients.

Before the kids arrived, the store’s manager, Justin Roadcamp, had everything set up. There was a variety of wrapping paper, gift bags, and tissue. Meanwhile, Pastor McKenzie, LaBelle Kiwanis Club President, brought coffee donated from Dunkin Donuts. Evelyn and the Hendry County Aktion Club members brought lots of Christmas cookies for each family.

“Turned out to be a great day, started off rainy but ended up terrific. Smiles from ear-to-ear adorned the children meticulously combing all the goods to be found in the LaBelle Kiwanis thrift store on Saturday. They were in search of the perfect gift for their family members,” said Kiwanian Mary Pringle.

Santa and Mrs. Claus were there for photos, too! They arrived in a Hendry County Sheriff’s vehicle, lights and sirens announcing their arrival. They greeted the families and filled the event with holiday cheer.
