LaBelle High School sets makeup exam schedule

LABELLE — The Florida Standards Assessments are exams that students enrolled in Florida elementary, middle and high schools take each school year. The FSA English Language Arts (ELA) exam with writing is taken by all Florida students in grades 4 through 10. While students in grades 4-6 take the exam on paper, grades 7-10 take their exams on a computer. Regardless of their grade level, all students are given 120 minutes to complete the test. However, students who do not complete the exam within the 120 minutes can continue working for up to one half the length of a standard school day.

At LaBelle High School, students were unable to take their exams during the last school year. On Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, the following notice was issued:

“Attention all Juniors and Parents:
“Due to circumstances beyond your control you were not able to take the FSA ELA Grade 10 Assessment last school year. Even with that being the case, it is still a graduation requirement that you pass the ELA test.

“Please mark your calendars and plan to be at LHS on the following dates to take the FSA ELA Assessment:

“• FSA Writing
Monday, Sept. 21 – Juniors with last names A-L
Tuesday, Sept. 22 – Juniors with last names M-Z

“• FSA Reading (you will take both sessions on the same day)
Monday, Sept. 28 – Juniors with the last names A-L
Tuesday, Sept. 29 – Juniors with the last names M-Z

“Testing will take place in the gym and will begin at 7:30. Please be here on time, with your Chromebook, and ready to test.“
