LaBelle man seriously injured in Ft. Myers traffic crash

LEE COUNTY — At approximately 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to a traffic accident at Palm Beach Boulevard (State Road 80) east of Joppa Lane.

A 74-year-old woman, of Fort Myers, was driving a pickup truck attempting to turn west onto Palm Beach Boulevard from 11161 Palm Beach Boulevard in Ft. Myers. At the same time a 20-year-old man from LaBelle, driving a sedan, was traveling east on Palm Beach Boulevard in the inside lane. The truck violated the right of way of the sedan. The front of the sedan collided with the left side of the truck. The truck overturned onto its side and came to rest in the area of collision.

It was reported the driver and 73-year-old male passenger in the truck were pronounced deceased on scene.

The 20-year-old man was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

The traffic crash was investigated by Trooper Adams and Homicide Investigator Cpl. Kantor.
