WASHINGTON DC — On April 30, Collier-Lee Honor Flight took flight after a two-year pandemic related hiatus. Seven local residents took part in Mission #22. The flight left RSW at 5 a.m. on April 30, full of 85 veterans and their 85 guardians from Lee, Hendry and Collier counties.

The day in Washington, DC consisted of tours and visits to World War II, Korean War, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War memorials, Arlington National Cemetery and tomb of the unknown soldier, Air Force Memorial and Iwo Jima Memorials. The day ended back at RSW at 9 p.m. with a greeting of over 2000 people waving flags and clapping giving a heroes welcome home, tears of joy were plentiful that day.

The day was truly a memorable experience for all involved.
