Letter to the Editor: Public gets shut out once again

To: Chandler Williamson (Pahokee city manager), Felisia Hill, Regina Bohlen, Clara Murvin, Benny Everett, Keith Babb (Pahokee city commissioners)

Subject: Commission meeting Dec. 8

The public did not see or hear (the Pahokee City Commission’s) meeting from the time Everett was asking about the CM (city manager’s) contract through to when it was (time for the) mayor’s report. Citizen comments were missed; no one received a call; the resolutions (on the agenda) were skipped.

The public was only able to see the hiring of the city clerks conversation at the end of the meeting.

This meeting should have been stopped or at least halted when IT (information technology staff) knew the internet was out — or was it deliberate?

FYI, the public is outraged, once again shut out.

I agree with the commission on city clerk; it’s only common sense to pay a little more, bring in a certified city clerk, and a hometown girl at that .

If everyone would stop trying to be the all high, almighty and do their job properly, honestly, regardless who you like and don’t like, the city could be one big happy family.

But, instead, “Oh I don’t like him or her, so I’m not responding to him or her.” Oh, I forgot, due to the new ordinance, you’re not allowed to speak or answer questions to the citizens that put you in office!

CM, your “poor little me” speeches that you’re gonna do better are getting a little old; just do what you say.

It’s totally sad. I’m sorry for the shape the government of Pahokee is in when it comes to its citizens. All lives matter.
