CLEWISTON -- I simply do not have the words to convey just how humble and moved I was after Saturday’s outpouring of love and support at being honored during the 12th Annual Rally for the Cure - Susan G. Komen Golf Tournament at the J. Nelson Fairbanks Clewiston Golf Course. If there is one word to describe my feelings, if would be “full” as I felt full of love from all who came and played, full of gratitude for my team who helps put on this great event every year, full of happiness at just being able to play my favorite sport (golf) another time, and full of hope that I am paying it forward for other women who will face similar health and life challenges.

I never dreamed when starting this annual golf tournament so many years ago, that one day I would be the recipient of its fundraising. Yet, here we are - and my journey is a personal testament to the need for and value of the critical importance in continuing to raise money through efforts like these to help so many others who are struggling to fight this and other types of cancer. This illness is so often devastating to the patient and their families, events like these not only raise money to aid in research, but they also raise awareness and provide support for the individuals and families affected by cancer.

So many of my friends throughout this community have asked how to help, and this tournament and the weekend’s activities gave everyone an immediate and positive way to make a difference in my life as well as many other folks. For that, I say a very heartfelt “THANK YOU” to each and every one of you.

I would also like to thank the people of U.S. Sugar for helping with this event every year and for being there for our community in the small ways as well for all of the larger things that garner more attention. Every little bit helps me and others like me.

To the Clewiston Women’s Golf Association, Robbie and I appreciate all that you have done in helping put together this golf tournament each year. The funds that it raises help women who are fighting the good fight, raising precious families and living their lives one day at a time. You are making such a difference. God bless you.

Sincerely,

Jodi Rush
