Local students graduate from Work Readiness Program

Posted

HENDRY COUNTY- This past week, Prolific Learning Corp. Summer Work Program participants, participated in a four day Work Readiness training. This training prepared them for their 8-week paid internships, with local businesses within their communities.

After three days of studies focused on financial literacy, professionalism, and what to expect in the working world, the very last day had the program participants dressed up for practice interviews. Their goals of making eye contact, using positive body language, and speaking clearly and with confidence were all met. It was clear all had studied hard, and their dedication showed.

The new graduates from the LaBelle Summer Work Readiness Training each began their summer work programs on Monday, June 7. Some went to work at Short Cakes, the Kiwanis Thrift store, McDonald’s, and a few others will be assisting with LaBelle Fossil Camp. The group of students from Clewiston will also be joining several local businesses.

Prolific Learning Corp’s Summer Work Program is an eight week summer youth employment program designed to engage students in Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties, ages 14-21 years of age in having a productive summer with work-based learning that provides them with an opportunity to obtain employment skills needed post-secondary. Participants are exposed to the workforce that enables them to learn about the variety of occupations available in their local area.
