The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces a Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) Project Delivery Team Meeting regarding optimization feedback, scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“We appreciate everyone who was able to join us for the Oct. 26 LOSOM PDT Meeting and the follow-up Listening Session on Oct. 28. Your feedback is incredibly important to us,” said LOSOM Project Manager Tim Gysan. “Based on the tremendous amount of feedback we have received since Tuesday from all over south Florida, we will take some time to carefully consider everything we are receiving. We still will hold a PDT meeting on Tuesday Nov. 2 to share the input with the PDT and listen to additional feedback on the optimization data. We are requesting all submittals of preferred optimization runs for review by Tuesday but no later than Friday Nov. 5.”

“We anticipate making the announcement on our final optimized lake schedule model run on Nov. 16,” said Gysan. “We will continue developing and evaluating the operational guidance that accompanies the schedule in parallel and will bring the two pieces together with the rollout of the final preferred alternative plan in mid-December.”

“Thank you for your continued engagement, technical input, and open feedback,” said Gysan. “That is what makes this process work.“

The release of the draft EIS for public comment is scheduled for April 2022, the release of a final EIS by August of 2022, and a Record of Decision in December of 2022, so that we have the plan ready to implement as soon as the Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation is complete at the end of 2022.

The Project Delivery Team (PDT) members include only the federal officials and elected officers of state, local or tribal governments or their designated employees with authority to act on their behalf acting in their official capacities.

Members of the public (PUBLIC) are welcome to attend the government agency PDT meeting and provide comment during the designated Public Comment periods.
