MOORE HAVEN- The Moore Haven Lady Terrier varsity softball team scored a big 18-3 win over the Dunbar Lady Tigers on April 4.

Moore Haven jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Dunbar inched closer in the top of the third, scoring 2 runs to make it 7-3. But the Lady Terrier offense took over the game in the bottom of that same inning, scoring 11 runs and ending the game due to the 15-run rule.

Freshman Halley Balentine led the Lady Terriers with 3 RBIs. Junior Hayden Davis and sophomore Preslynn Baker each had 2 RBIs. Baker also hit a triple in the win. Sophomore Serenity Micco  drew three walks at the plate and sophomore Laini Rico led Moore Haven with four stolen bases.

Junior Hayden Davis, Baker, and Rico all lead the Lady Terriers with 15 hits so far this season. Baker has 13 RBIs while Davis has 11. Baker also leads the team with two home runs and 20 stolen bases this year.

The Lady Terriers have an 8-3 record and are ranked third in their district. Last season the team advanced to the district championship where they fell to Bradenton Christian. Now, as they enter the last month of regular season play, Moore Haven looks ready to make another run in the playoffs.

The Lady Terriers host the Glades Day Lady Gators on April 21 in Moore Haven, before traveling to face Dunbar in a rematch on April 24.
