More COVID-19 deaths reported in Glades County; Nine COVID-19 related deaths reported since March

More COVID-19 deaths reported in Glades County; Nine COVID-19 related deaths reported since March

MOORE HAVEN – Since testing began in March, 656 Glades County residents have tested positive for COVID-19; 54 COVID-19 positive residents have been hospitalized; and, nine residents have died. Twenty-six positive cases have been reported in the past 14 days.

According to FDOH, 46% of the positive cases in Glades County were related to correctional facilities. Moore Haven Correctional Facility, operated by the GEO Group, has 182 COVID-19 positive prisoners and 39 COVID-19 positive staff members. At the Glades County Detention Center 179 ICE detaineers have tested postiive for COVID-19 since testing began, and one has died. Currently one detainee is a confirmed case under isolation or monitoring.

FDOH has reported nine COVID-19 related deaths of Glades County residents:
• 89-year-old man, positive test reported March 29;

• 63-year-old man, positive test reported June 25;
• 51-year-old man, positive test reported July 4;
• 80-year-old woman, positive test report Aug. 20;
• 75-yer-old man, positive test reported Aug. 21;
• 76-year-old man, positive test reported Sept. 14;
• 81-year-old man, positive test reported Sept. 22;
• 54-year-old man, positive test reported Oct. 7;
• 70-year-old man, positive test reported Nov. 14
