Most of Florida is “low risk” of COVID-19 transmission according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

The CDC Community Levels map, updated on March 17, shows most of the Sunshine State in green, indicating low levels of COVID-19 transmission. Only Hamilton, Columbia, Baker, Union, Bradford, Union, Suwanee, Lafayette, Levy, Dixie, Gilcrist and Alachua counties are in yellow, indicating a medium level of risk.

According to the CDC, for the seven-day period ending March 21:

Glades County had no new COVID-19 positive cases and one new hospital admission of a confirmed COVID-19 patient who is a Glades County resident.

Hendry County had less than 10 new COVID-19 positive cases and two new confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Highlands County had 28 new COVID-19 positive cases and eight new confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Martin County had 47 new COVID-19 positive cases and seven new confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Okeechobee County had 11 new COVID-19 positive cases and two new confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Palm Beach County had 532 new COVID-19 positive cases and 64 new confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations.

As of March 21, according to the CDC, 81.6% of U.S. residents age 5 and older have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

Unvaccinated persons are 2.4 times more likely to test positive for COVID-19 and nine times more likely to die from COVID-19 according to the CDC data.

COVID-19 vaccinations are free and widely available at most pharmacies.
