Multiple fire departments assist in three-vehicle accident

OKEECHOBEE - Shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, April 9,  a three-vehicle wreck on SR70 at CR721 North, brought HIghlands County Fire Rescue units from Sun n Lakes 41, Lake Placid medic 36 and Desoto City medic 19, along with an engine and a medic unit from the Seminole Tribe FD, and a rescue unit from Okeechobee County.

One trauma alert was transported by Aeromed 2, which landed nearby. Three additional people were transported to an area hospital by units from all three jurisdictions. Two additional people involved were evaluated but did not request medical transport.
 
Both roads were shut down for over an hour, with lane blockage remaining for cleanup. East bound traffic was diverted onto north 721.
 
Highlands County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol  were on scene.
