NFL tight end Darren Waller guest speaker at an Immokalee church

IMMOKALLE — Darren Waller is a man of faith and he thanks God every day for transforming his mind and his life. The First Seminole Baptist Church of Immokalee is happy to announce that Darren Waller will be present Sunday, May 1, as a guest speaker, to share his message of grace and forgiveness.

Darren Waller played college football at Georgia Tech and entered the NFL as a Baltimore Raven in 2015. Suffering from addiction, he overcame substance use disorder and NFL suspensions to become a Pro-Bowl performer. His life story is one of opportunity, redemption, and service.

Darren’s message could positively impact many. He has a clear vision to leave this world a better place and is committed to sharing his story in hopes of giving others the second chance he was given.

“Life is good now, but it wasn’t always good. There was a time in my life that I didn’t want to look in the mirror because what was there was not who I wanted to be. What was there was not pleasing in any way.” ~ Darren Waller

Darren has shared that human beings are not defined by their mistakes, and it has been through his own journey that others now lean on him. Realizing that he can be the light for others inspired him to establish The Darren Waller Foundation to support anyone suffering from addiction or simply struggling to find meaning and purpose in their life.

Darren Waller will be a Guest Pastor this weekend only. He will be introduced by Pastor Josh Leadingfox. Leadingfox is the full-time Pastor of Immokalee First Seminole Baptist Church and is dedicated to reaching Native Americans living on the Seminole Tribe’s Immokalee Reservation as well as residents in the surrounding community. His ministry vision boldly proclaims: “Every People, Every Language: that’s what I believe Heaven is…and the best way for us to prepare for that is to prepare for it here.”

Pastor Leadingfox shared that the Congregation had been quiet since COVID, but word of Darren’s visit has reignited the community spirit. Immokalee Football student athletes will be escorted by Coach James Delgado and family and will be amongst the many who fill the pews to listen to Darren and his inspiring message.
