Public and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and provide input on the South Florida Water Management District’s planning and rule making efforts for the Northern Everglades

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) will hold a public workshop to provide an update on the Northern Everglades Program planning process and discuss the latest Draft Northern Everglades Works of the District Basins rules under Chapter 40E-61 of the Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).

The online Zoom meeting is Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at: zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_i7ago-yxT9SLOxP5db8ALQ?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery

During the workshop, SFWMD will present how the Watershed Protection Plans fit into the overall Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program (NEEPP) and recent steps taken to accelerate actions and engage the public to identify solutions that will improve water quality.

Initial areas of focus within the watersheds were determined using SFWMD’s monitoring network data. SFWMD will explain the process used for completing detailed assessments of the focus areas to determine short-term, intermediate, and long-term solutions in an effort to improve water quality.

This workshop will also introduce a new tool developed by SFWMD to provide the public with expanded access to SFWMD data and provide updates on the amendments to Chapter 40E-61 rules.

The public can find the most recent draft rules; links to register for the workshop and to submit comments online; and review public comments that have previously been submitted at www.sfwmd.gov/doing-business-with-us/rules?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
