LABELLE -- Hendry County hereby announces that funds for Housing Assistance are available from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program.
Funding for fiscal year 2019/2020 through fiscal year 2020/2021 has been allocated from SHIP. Funds will be made available for first-time homebuyers’ assistance.
Hendry County will be hosting four homeowner orientations to explain the program details and answer questions applicants may have.
The first homeowner orientations will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 12 and Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Hendry County Annex Offices, Janet B. Taylor Auditorium, 1100 S. Olympia Street, Clewiston, FL 33440.
The second homeowner orientations will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 25 and Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Hendry County Extension Office, located at 1085 Pratt Boulevard, LaBelle, FL 33975.
Due to COVID-19 and CDC guidelines, no more than 28 individuals will be allowed in each orientation session. Please limit the number of individuals per household to two.
Individual applications for down payment assistance will be available beginning on Monday, Nov. 1 through Tuesday, Nov. 30 or until funds are expended.
The program does not reimburse for homes that have already been purchased. SHIP funds cannot be used to purchase a mobile home.
The application period is for thirty (30) days, beginning Monday, Nov. 1 or until all funds have been expended.
All applications must be received by the Housing Department, 133 N. Bridge Street, LaBelle, Florida or 1100 S. Olympia Street, Clewiston, Florida by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Applications can be mailed to Hendry County Housing, Attn: Sabrina Gadson at P. O. Box 2340, LaBelle, Florida 33975.
All SHIP assistance recipients must agree to comply with all SHIP Program criteria and requirements as set forth in Chapter 67-37, Florida Administrative Code and are frequently modified and amended.
The Hendry County Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to close any program application period by Board resolution.
