OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office congratulates Cpl. Jack Nash who was awarded the First Annual Florida Atlantic University, Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (FAU CARD) Officer of the Year award. FAU CARD is the first step after an individual gets diagnosed with autism or after an individual has been determined eligible with related disabilities.

Sheriff Stephen learned of the program and asked Cpl. Nash to implement it. Cpl. Nash reached out to Rosie from CARD and partnered with FAU Autism and the Alzheimer’s Association of South Florida.

For more information about CARD, contact Cpl. Nash at 863-763-3117, ext. 5018.

Sheriff Noel E. Stephen stated, “This is a perfect example of owning a task for the betterment of our community. We strive to build leaders for the future of our Sheriff’s Office and our Community as we are a lead by example organization. Jack and all the other men and women of our Sheriff’s Office make me proud each and every day to be their Sheriff.

Major Michael Hazellief stated, “This is just a great example of the many things our employees do on a regular basis for the betterment of this community outside the normal scope of law enforcement. Jack exemplifies this regularly and I’m very proud of him.”
