OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office has a long history of supporting Special Olympic athletes, some of whom are on the spectrum for autism.
Sheriff Noel E. Stephen wanted to take that show of support a step further. On June 28, all marked patrol cars added Autism Awareness Project stickers in their rear windows as a continued sign of support.
Sheriff Noel E. Stephen and Major Michael Hazellief welcomed a group of young people with autism as guests on June 28 while announcing the project.
Those in attendance received a gold leaf O.C.S.O. sticker badge and an exact copy of the sticker.
