OKEECHOBEE -- What can go wrong will go wrong for the theatre group just trying to put on a show in the comedy "Play On!" presented by Okeechobee Community Theatre.

The play within a play opened to an enthusiastic audience March 17 in the Okeechobee Freshman Campus Auditoriu,.

"Play On!" is the story of a theatre group struggling to put on a play despite the interference from the author who keeps changing the script.

The meddling author just can't resist trying to constantly "tweak" the play, with just days to go before opening night.

Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful script which includes difficult dialog the author insists cannot be changed as well as puzzling plot twists.

.Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal.

The final act is the actual performance, in which anything that can go wrong, does.

The production features an ensemble of talented actors including Laurie Garner, Jane Kaufman Robards, Darren Hotmire, Tina Welborn, Aryn Murray, Joey Marcinek, Ian Murray, Cassandra Adair, Katherine Hardy, and Connie Gerard. The play is directed by James Garner, Katherine Hardy and Joey Marcinek, with stage managers Grace Morgan and Martha Bucholtz, lighting by Laura Murray and sound by Justin Robards and Cesar Marin.

The OCT cast has a lot of fun making fun of the theatre in this spoof.

“Play On!” runs through April 1.
