Okeechobee County Fair opens Tuesday


OKEECHOBEE – The Okeechobee County Fair opens Tuesday, March 16, at the Okeechobee Agri-Civic Center, with entrance off State Road 710. The first night of the fair is Dollar Night, with $1 admission and $1 rides, most food vendors will also have at least one item for $1.

The fair will continue through Sunday, March 21. The fairgrounds open at 5 p.m. on weekdays and at noon on Saturday and Sunday.

Helicopter rides will be available throughout the fair.

Carnival wristbands will be $20 Tuesday-Thursday; $25, Friday-Sunday.

The Demolition Derby will be Saturday, March 20 at 6 p.m.

The Okeechobee Youth Livestock Show started March 13 and continues through March 19. The livestock sale will be Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m.
Shows include:
• Dairy Show, Monday, March 15, 5 p.m.;
• Swine Showmanship, Tuesday, March 16, 5 p.m.
• Swine Show, Wednesday, March 17, 5 p.m.

• Beef Breeding Show, Thursday, March 18, 5 p.m.
• Lamb and Goat Show, Friday, March 19, 2 p.m.
• Steer Show, Friday, March 19, 5 p.m.

The fair will offer a variet of entertainment:
• Eudora Farms is an interactive, hands on exotic animal petting zoo and includes 20-25 rare and exotic animals from around the world. Animal ambassadors include “Little Joe” (The Wallaby) “Juliet” (The Scotch Highlander) “Humphrey” (The Camel) “Rascal” (The Fennec Fox) and “Kevin Bacon” (The Pot Belly Pig).
Camel rides will be available.

• Cycle Circus Live is known for death defying jumps, high flying stunts, and mesmerizing acrobatics all at incredible speeds. This troupe of performers is sure to amaze and capture the attention of your entire family. The show features the amazing talent from the Freestyle Madness team. Both BMX and Motocross acrobatics are displayed with each show.

• Max Power a interactive robot and his music pumping, mini monster truck NITRO will be ready to entertain fair fan. Max Power is easy to spot – stands 9 feet tall and is decorated with extensive LED lighting.

• Lisa of “Horses, Horses, Horses” has turned her love of animals into a lifelong career. From her youngest days growing up in Worcester, Massachusetts, her natural skill with horses led her to a career performing, choreographing and competing with horses. With over thirty years experience training animal acts of all kinds, Lisa’s performances with her animals have delighted audiences across the world. Her first love and specialty, Lisa’s horses have waltzed their way into Japan, danced in the Main Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, appeared on stage at Lincoln Center during the Lincoln Center Theatre Festival, and circled the United States for various circuses, stage shows, fairs and horse theatres, including a number of years performing with Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey. 

• Sunshine Monkeyshine features different types of monkeys. The family includes five monkeys, two hard working humans, and cats.
