Okeechobee County to auction off double-wide home

Posted

OKEECHOBEE – Okeechobee County will auction off a surplus mobile home on Saturday, Jan. 23.

A mistake by a county office led to a property owner purchasing a mobile home that was not in compliance with the county code for his property. The error was not discovered until after the mobile home had been delivered. As part of the settlement of the dispute, the county agreed to buy the mobile home. After considering possible uses on county property, the Okeechobee County Commissioners opted to sell the dwelling in hopes of recouping as much as they can for the county taxpayers.

Okeechobee County will hold a public auction to sell the surplus Deer Valley double-wide manufactured home on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at 4944NE 115th Place in Crooked Creek. The home is 2,280 square feet and has three bedrooms and two baths. The home has never been lived in.

Viewing hours for the manufactured home are:

• From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19;
• From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21;
• From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the day of the auction, Saturday, Jan. 23.

All viewing hours are at 4944 NE 115th PL., Okeechobee.

The manufactured home must be removed from the site by Feb. 12, 2021. The seller will arrange for relocation of the manufactured home to a lawfully permitted site in Okeechobee County.
