Okeechobee Fire Report

• Okeechobee City Fire Department responded to 23 medical/EMS, one fire-related, six motor vehicle and one false alarm call between Oct. 12 and Oct. 18.

• Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to 115 medical/EMS, two fire-related, eight motor vehicle accidents, three public service, three dispatch and cancel and two miscellaneous calls last week. Out of 82 possible transports, six were refused.

• Both OCFR and OCFD responded to a call on Oct. 16 at approximately 9 p.m. regarding a building fire in the 4600 block of Northwest 30th Street AKA Mitchell Road. When they arrived, they found flames and heavy smoke coming from two sides. Once the fire was almost completely extinguished, hose teams were able to enter and extinguish hot spots and check for occupants. No one was found inside the dwelling. The state fire marshal was contacted and requested at the scene. Red Cross was requested as well, as the occupants had nowhere to stay after the fire.
