Okeechobee Fire Report for the week of Sept. 21-Sept.28

• Okeechobee City Fire Department responded to 21 medical/EMS, six motor vehicle and one public assistance call last week.

• Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to 115 medical/EMS, 8 motor vehicle, five fire related, two aircraft stand by, two public assist and five miscellaneous calls last week. Of 81 possible transports, six were refused.

• On Sept. 25 at approximately 2:45 p.m., OCFR responded to a call regarding a possible structure fire. When they arrived, they found no signs of a fire. They shut off power to the home. The owner stated wiring was sparking. Owner was told to contact an electrician before turning power back on.

• On Sept. 25 at approximately 11:45 a.m., OCFR responded to a call regarding a road freight or vehicle fire in the 41900 block of U.S. 441 North. When they arrived, they found a semi truck on fire. The fire was contained to the two rear axles. The fire was extinguished, and the driver was uninjured. The driver said when he realized his tires were on fire, he pulled over and disconnected his trailer. He was hauling trash to the dump.
