OKEECHOBEE -- Some Okeechobee Walgreens customers were disappointed Friday when they found they could not pick up their prescriptions because the pharmacy closed at 3 p.m.
A sign on the front door states: "Due to staffing issues, the pharmacy will be closing at 3 p.m. on Friday, 7-15-2022. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will reopen Saturday at 9 a.m."
A Walgreens spokesperson explained, "We can't get a pharmacist to drive to Okeechobee." She said one regular staff pharmacist is on paternity leave and the other one is out.
Walgreens is short on pharmacists all over the state, she continued. The pharmacy will reopen at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
