One arrested in undercover operation

OKEECHOBEE — An undercover operation by the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force led to the arrest of a 68-year-old Okeechobee man. Jimmy Carter was arrested May 21 at approximately 1:45 p.m. and charged with the sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park,  possession with intent to sell cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and  possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, the task force utilized a confidential informant in an attempt to purchase crack cocaine from Carter. The informant was given prerecorded cash on May 7 and sent to the store on Northeast 13th Avenue where Carter works. The exchange of crack cocaine for money was reportedly made inside the store which is within 1,000 feet of Alderman Park.

Carter’s bond was set at $230,500.
