Palm Beach County BOCC briefs for May 4, 2021

At the May 4, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

Mask Policy – County Administrator Verdenia Baker provided an update on facial coverings in county facilities following the Governor’s order 21-102 issued May 2, 2021, to suspend all local government mandates in place due to COVID-19. In a continued effort to protect employees and the public, facial coverings or masks will continue to be required by employees and the public while conducting business in county buildings. The county will continue to follow all CDC guidelines and executive orders.

COVID-19 – received a report on local COVID-19 mitigation efforts from Dr. Alina Alonso, director of the Florida Dept. of Health-Palm Beach County, and Emergency Management Director Mary Blakeney. The daily lab positivity is at 5.81% just above targeted 5% rate. To date, 52.79% of Palm Beach County residents are fully vaccinated.

Airports – Approved Amendment No. 6 to the Construction Manager at Risk Contract with The Morganti Group, Inc. for Airport Improvements for Palm Beach County Department of Airports in the amount of $490,813.

Information Systems Services—approved the creation of PALMBEACHCOUNTY-FL.GOV and PALMBEACHCO.GOV domains to allow the county to provide better cyber-security across the county.

Facilities Development and Operations – Approved a County Deed in favor of The Scripps Research Institute (Scripps) conveying approximately 70 acres of the Briger tract without reservation of mineral and petroleum rights pursuant to the Ground Lease Agreement between Palm Beach County and Scripps. The current assessed value of the property is $27,553,479.

Planning, Zoning and Building – Approved a conceptual redistricting timeline for proposed Commission District maps. The redistricting data used for redrawing districts was scheduled for release by April 1, 2021 but is now anticipated to be released no later than September 2021.
