PBSC to host Affordable Housing in the Glades virtual forum Oct. 29

Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay will be the featured guest speaker at Palm Beach State College’s Affordable Housing in the Glades Virtual Forum: Building a Resilient Post-Pandemic Community, sponsored by PBSC’s Office of Community Relations and the Belle Glade campus.

This virtual meeting will take place on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 2 to 3:45 p.m. at the Zoom Meeting site at: https://palmbeachstate.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJIrfuGvqzgtEtw5-rc6Y3laV0MFAEmiq8Bq

A panel of three will also be featured at the event. Panelists are: James Green, director of the Palm Beach County Community Services Department; Fashara Hill, family self-sufficiency coordinator for the Pahokee Housing Authority; and Lesley George, housing liaison for the Palm Beach County Housing and Economic Sustainability Department. The following local mayors will also be in attendance: South Bay Mayor Joe Kyles, Pahokee Mayor Keith Babb and Belle Glade Mayor Steve B. Wilson.

The event is moderated by the director of the Palm Beach County Office of Community Revitalization, Houston Tate. The speaker and expert panelists will then share their views on the pandemic’s effects on affordable housing, present information on local government response efforts and provide an overview on the current affordable housing crisis and local government response measures.
