Pedestrian dies in hit and run accident

BELLE GLADE -- A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident at 2:25 a.m. on April 4, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report. The victim has been described as an 88-year-old Belle Glade man. His name has not been released, due to Marsy’s Law.

According to the PBSO report, a vehicle which may have been a maroon colored truck, was traveling northbound, approaching the 150 block of State Road 715.

The pedestrian was standing (or otherwise walking) in the northbound lane in the 150 block of State Road 715, in an undetermined direction of travel.

As the vehicle traversed the 150 block of State Road 715, it collided with pedestrian, as he was in the northbound lane, the PBSO report states.

During the collision the front the vehicle impacted the pedestrian, vaulting him into the air before coming to rest within the northbound lane of State Road 715.

The vehicle fled the scene (northbound) after the collision.
