Raiders and Tornadoes in playoff game Dec. 4

Posted

BELLE GLADE — For the first time this season, the Glades Central Raiders will be playing football in Belle Glade.

After going undefeated in the regular season, the Raiders are scheduled to host the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes on Dec. 4 in the first round of the playoffs.

Glades Central went on a tear throughout the regular season, winning all four of their games by double digits. The Raider defense has been stellar, allowing only 13 points during those four games while shutting two teams out.

Booker T. Washington went 2-2 during the regular season, but seems to have momentum with both wins coming in their last two games. On Nov. 19 Booker T. shut out the American Patriots 37-0.

The Tornadoes are defending state champions and are a brutal first-round draw for Glades Central. But if the Raiders wanted to make their case that they’re the best team in the state, then there would be no better statement than a big win over Booker T. Washington.

The Pahokee Blue Devils will also be competing in the playoffs, but will be on the road taking on the 3-0 Dillard Panthers on Dec. 4. The Blue Devils went 2-2 during the regular season.

Pahokee opened the season with a close 25-22 loss to Dwyer before moving on to beat Wellington 22-16 in overtime. Their biggest loss came in the Muck Bowl to Glades Central when they were shut out 38-0.

But the Blue Devils bounced back the following week with a big 36-8 win over Royal Palm Beach.

Glades Central and Booker T. kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 while Pahokee and Dillard kick off at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4.
