Record-breakers become champs

WINTER HAVEN — The talent, drive and dedication of the Clewiston Cougar athletes and their coaches has been immeasurable. Over the weekend, the Clewiston Cougars 14U football team, who recently made history by winning against an out-of-state team, became the National Youth Football Alliance 14U (NYFA) 2021 State Alliance Champions during a grueling tournament Jan. 2 and 3, in Winter Haven.

“Clearly, the coaches have poured their entire hearts into these teams, and the kids know it. They feel it,” said one of the player’s parents. “Our community has really come together to prop these kids up. We are blessed.”

As if the 14U winning against another out-of-state team with a final score of 25-6 wasn’t enough proof that talent is oozing from these Clewiston players, following their win, the 10U and 12U teams played hard and won their tournaments, as well. The kids, coaches and parents were elated.
