PORT ST. LUCIE — Communities Connected for Kids won a statewide challenge while celebrating National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The prize was realized Tuesday, Aug. 24, when retired NFL Buccaneers Coach Tony Dungy spoke to local caregivers in a special, private Zoom call.
Dungy is also the founder of All Pro Dads, a foundation that partners with local child-welfare organizations to improve relationships between children, families and organizations.
CCKids competed with other child-welfare agencies throughout the state to register the most people to participate in the #1Kfor1Kid campaign, a campaign designed to raise awareness for the prevention of child abuse.
More than 100 residents were registered for the event, which challenged participants to complete a 1K of any activity to raise awareness for the prevention of child abuse.
