Roadwork alert: Construction project

LABELLE -- The Hendry County Sheriff's Office has issued this travel alert:

Beginning, Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Crews will be resurfacing and widening portions of SR 80 from the Lee County line to Grandma’s Grove RV Resort. Additional work includes installing new signage and pavement markers and replacing guardrail. During construction there will be daytime and nighttime lane closures on eastbound and westbound SR 80.

Remember that speeding in a construction zone is illegal. If workers are present when you are caught speeding your fine may be double. Violators of FS 318.14(5) may face fines up to $1,000.00 and loss of their driver’s license.

Stay alert and watch for the construction signs and be sure to slow down. – It’s the Law.
