Rosenwald Elementary prepares for diagnostic tests

Posted

SOUTH BAY — Rosenwald Elementary School is doing a good job dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, Rosenwald Elementary School Principal Bruce Hightower told City of South Bay Commissioners at their Jan. 5 meeting.

School officials are doing a fantastic job making sure students are practicing social distancing, wearing face masks, sanitizing and protecting themselves and others, he said.

“Staff has been doing a fantastic job of identifying students when they are sick so we can get them the proper care and also at the same time test them if need be.”

In upcoming weeks, Rosenwald will be doing diagnostic tests for the third through fifth grades which is a precursor to the readiness test for the upcoming assessment tests, he explained. The testing will be slightly different this year, he said. The majority of students are attending the brick and mortar school and will take the test on paper. Students who are attending virtually must return to the brick and motor school to take the diagnostic assessment tests.

On Jan. 13, the school will host a virtual oratorical contest.

On Jan. 18 the school drum line will participate in Martin Luther King Parade in Belle Glade.
