Salvation Army seeking volunteer ringers

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — The Salvation Army of Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee Counties is seeking volunteers to serve as bell ringers at their red kettles outside Publix and Walmart this holiday season. Individuals, families, clubs or other groups are encouraged to reserve their time slots now.

The Salvation Army’s red kettles have become an icon of Christmas and a primary fund-raiser for the nonprofit. All money collected stays within the county in which it was raised to help families in need with things like food and financial assistance.

The red kettles begin this year on Nov. 27 and time slots are two hours each. To sign up, go to registertoring.com to select a date and location or call Volunteer Manager Kim Johnson at 772-288-1471, ext. 202.
