The Shelter for Abused Women & Children’s Immokalee Outreach Office held its annual Children’s Peace Fair from 3-6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, at the Collier County Immokalee Sports Complex. The event raises awareness during October’s National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Festivities included children’s games, food, entertainment, and information booths hosted by partner agencies. First Baptist Church provided a games and food and Animals of Kowiaschobee Preserve brought a variety of animals for attendees to view and pet.
This year’s event also included a Peace March as a call to end domestic violence.
“This has always been a very special event for The Shelter,” says Shelter CEO Linda Oberhaus, “As construction continues on The Shelly Stayer Shelter in Immokalee, it is even more important than ever to raise awareness in this community.”
